Lionel Richie Hospitalized for Cardiac Tests After Concert

Lionel Richie, the 77-year-old music icon, is hospitalized in an intensive care unit in St. Louis as doctors conduct tests for potential cardiac-related issues. He checked into the hospital on Saturday, August 29, after performing at The Muny in Forest Park, where he struggled during the concert's final part.

Concertgoers observed him leaning on a piano and requesting a chair before performing “All Night Long.” Initially, he sought medical attention as a precaution due to dehydration concerns, but the evaluation expanded to include cardiac issues. Sources indicate that Richie is doing okay and may be discharged on Wednesday, September 2.

This health scare follows a previous incident on June 24, when he became dizzy during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, leading to a shortened performance and subsequent postponement of two shows. Richie is currently touring with Earth, Wind & Fire on the “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour, with his next performance scheduled for September 26, 2026, in San Francisco.
