Liverpool Sign Parma Defender Giovanni Leoni As Summer Spending Exceeds £300 Million

Liverpool has signed Parma defender Giovanni Leoni as their sixth major arrival this summer, pushing their spending past £300 million. The club is also in talks to bring in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for a fee of over £50 million, potentially setting a new summer spending record.

Leoni's arrival addresses the need for defensive reinforcement following the departure of academy graduate Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen. The 18-year-old Italian is determined to join Liverpool, with a loan move away from Anfield not on the cards.

The Reds have offloaded seven players, including Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, to help offset their heavy investment. Leoni is expected to be in attendance for Liverpool's season opener against Bournemouth on August 15.
