Goshen Foundation Urges Support for Banda Healthcare Centre

The Goshen Foundation has appealed to the Lokoja Local Government Authority to urgently address the staffing and resource gaps at the Banda Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC). During an advocacy visit on Tuesday, Oluremi Haruna, representing Executive Director Susan Atinuk, presented findings indicating that the Banda PHC, a major healthcare facility serving the Banda community and surrounding settlements, is significantly undermined by a shortage of health workers.

This situation adversely affects the delivery of essential health services, particularly in areas such as HIV, tuberculosis, and maternal and child healthcare. Haruna noted that the lack of adequate personnel and medical supplies continues to hinder effective healthcare delivery.

Muham Buchi, the Director of Primary Healthcare for Lokoja Local Government Authority, acknowledged the staffing challenges and emphasized that inadequate human resources remain a major issue affecting primary healthcare facilities, especially in rural underserved communities. The local government is engaged with relevant authorities to facilitate the recruitment and deployment of additional healthcare workers.
