Labour Party Disowns Arabambi Over Obi Credential Case

The Labour Party has officially disowned Abayomi Arabambi, its former National Publicity Secretary, who initiated legal proceedings to access the academic and service records of Peter Obi, the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate. Ken Asogwa, the party’s current National Publicity Secretary, stated that Arabambi was suspended in March 2026 along with 24 others for alleged anti-party activities, a decision ratified by the party's National Convention on April 28, 2026.

Asogwa emphasized that Arabambi's representation as a party chieftain is unauthorized and could be considered impersonation. The party's legal team is reviewing the situation for potential legal action.

Arabambi filed three suits at the Federal High Court in Abuja against WAEC, UNN, and NYSC under the Freedom of Information Act, seeking records related to Obi's credentials. He clarified that he is not questioning the authenticity of Obi's certificates but rather requesting access to the institutions' records.

The NDC has dismissed Arabambi's claims, asserting that Obi has a verifiable academic pedigree.
