Labour Party Petitions Police Over Nomination Form Sale

The Labour Party has filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services concerning the alleged illegal distribution of nomination forms by Julius Abure, the former national chairman of the party. Nenadi Usman, the current national chairman, made these allegations during a press briefing on Thursday in Abuja, where she stated that the forms were being circulated unlawfully.

Usman insisted that the leadership of the party, recognized at the Umuahia convention, remains legitimate. She noted that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognizes the party's leadership as listed on its website.

Usman also mentioned that three aspirants have purchased presidential nomination forms, reiterating the party's decision to zone the 2027 presidential ticket to the South. She expressed confidence in the party's ability to present credible candidates for the upcoming elections and emphasized the importance of a transparent primary process.
