Labour Party Candidate Rejects Nasarawa By-Election Results

Labaran Maku, the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Nasarawa North, has publicly rejected the results of the recent by-election, citing allegations of widespread irregularities. During a press briefing on Sunday, Maku, a former minister and deputy governor of Nasarawa State, called for the cancellation of the election, claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) did not adhere to electoral laws.

He accused the Nasarawa State government of colluding with electoral umpires to manipulate the election process. Maku highlighted issues such as the absence of ballot papers in certain wards and malfunctioning biometric voter authentication machines, which he claimed disenfranchised voters.

He urged the federal government to investigate the electoral process and expressed concerns over the integrity of the election, stating that it was a "sham." Maku's statements were met with a dismissal from Augustin Ogaba of the People's Democratic Party, who urged acceptance of the electoral outcome.
