LPCF Demands Release of El-Rufai, Calls Arrest Political

The Labour Party Candidates Forum (LPCF) has voiced its concern regarding the arrest of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State. In a statement signed by the forum's chairman, Barrister Okem Adejoh, and secretary, Comrade Ez Oko, the LPCF described the arrest as a politically motivated tactic aimed at silencing opposition voices.

The group expressed solidarity with El-Rufai, asserting that the arrest is an oppressive act against a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). They criticized the current political climate in Nigeria, stating that it undermines democratic principles by allowing for the intimidation and incarceration of critics without fear of repercussions.

The LPCF highlighted that while El-Rufai faces accusations, other APC members, such as Yahaya Bello and Ifeanyi Okowa, continue to operate freely. The forum emphasized that the matter should not be viewed through a regional or religious lens but as an attempt to intimidate opposition voices.

They called for the unconditional release of El-Rufai, warning that actions by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) could lead to autocracy and tyranny in Nigeria.
