Lagos State to Renovate Rowe Park Sports Complex

The Lagos State Sport Trust Fund (LSSTF) has announced plans to revamp the Mobolaji Johnson Sport Complex at Rowe Park, Yaba, which includes a full renovation of the long-neglected indoor sports hall and squash courts. LSSTF Chairman Wahid Oshodi described Rowe Park as the heartbeat of grassroots sports in Lagos, emphasizing its central role in talent discovery.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the renovation, which is crucial as Lagos prepares to host the maiden National Intermediate Games in October 2026. Oshodi assured that the hall would be ready, with work expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.

Lekan Fatodu, Director General of the Lagos State Sport Commission, called the renovation a turning point for the complex, which has been a laboratory for talent development in Nigeria. The project aims to ensure the facility serves both recreational and competitive purposes, preserving its legacy within Nigeria's sports history.
