Olympic City Project to Enhance Sports and Housing in Lagos

The Olympic City project, launched by the Nigerian Olympic Committee, aims to boost sports and housing in Lagos. Spanning four hectares, the development will include residential units (two, three, and four-bedroom apartments) and sports facilities such as tennis courts, football pitches, and volleyball courts.

The project is designed to address the housing deficit in Lagos while promoting a mixed lifestyle of luxury real estate and sports. Olalere emphasized the importance of grassroots development in gymnastics, particularly for children, and the need for certified coaches to nurture talent.

The project will be executed through a public-private partnership with Alpha Co. Ltd, which will help manage the financial aspects.

The development is expected to be completed within 24 months, although challenges such as poor road conditions leading to the site have been noted. The Olympic City will also reserve accommodation for athletes, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing sports infrastructure in Nigeria.
