MACBAN Appeals for Investigation into Cattle Poisoning

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) submitted a petition to Governor Mutfwang and the Department of State Services (DSS) concerning the alleged killing and poisoning of cattle in Plateau State. The petition, dated April 23, 2026, and signed by State Chairman Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, highlights incidents occurring between April 18 and April 23, 2026, across various communities in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

Specifically, the petition claims that ten cows were allegedly poisoned in Rakung Village on April 18, followed by reports of cattle killings on April 20 and nine more poisoned cattle near Lokojora Area on April 22. The association expressed concerns about the economic implications for its members and the broader impact on food security in the community.

No arrests have been made related to these incidents, and MACBAN has called for a thorough investigation to prevent further occurrences. The group also urged its members to remain calm and law-abiding amidst ongoing tensions, while Solomon Dalyop of the Berom Youth Moulder Association denied any involvement of their group in the incidents.
