MACBAN Demands Investigation into Kogi Pastoralists' Killings

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has urged authorities to investigate the killing of pastoralists in Kogi State, which occurred on May 21, 2026, in Ika Achel Alifoeti Village. The attack resulted in the complete destruction of a local community and the loss of 200 cattle, with several herders sustaining varying degrees of injury.

The injured individuals received treatment at Ankpa General Hospital. Suleiman Muham, the Kogi State chapter secretary of MACBAN, condemned the targeted killings of innocent pastoralists, stating that such acts are unacceptable and could worsen tensions among peaceful communities.

He emphasized that every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law and called for immediate action from security agencies to investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators, and ensure justice is served. MACBAN extended condolences to the families of the deceased and called for humanitarian assistance for those affected.
