Machete Attack at Lagos Cinema Leaves Two Dead

On Friday night, a machete-wielding man attacked security guards at a cinema in Lekki, Lagos State, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The suspect attempted to enter the cinema but was stopped by security personnel, leading to a violent confrontation.

SP Adebisi Abimbola, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, confirmed that the suspect stabbed one security guard to death and injured another before being mobbed by bystanders, which led to his own death. The police are investigating the incident and have taken the Chief Security Officer of the cinema into custody.

Adebisi indicated that the suspect appeared destitute and was suspected to be under the influence of drugs. The police are working to obtain and review closed-circuit television footage from the cinema to clarify the sequence of events and determine if others were involved.

As of the report, the identities of the deceased and the condition of the injured guard had not been disclosed.
