Atiku Abubakar Critiques Government After Maiduguri Blasts

On Tuesday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar condemned the resurgence of terrorism following a series of suicide bomb attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Monday night. The attacks occurred almost simultaneously in the market and post office areas, resulting in 23 deaths and injuring 108 others.

Atiku warned that the resurgence of terrorist activities could erode public trust in the government's ability to protect its citizens. He criticized the administration of Bola Tinubu for its response to the insecurity, suggesting that the government's focus on political opposition rather than addressing security challenges was detrimental.

Atiku highlighted the need for an urgent review of security strategies, emphasizing that the current situation reminded him of the tragic events of 2014 involving Boko Haram. He also noted that the government's statements condemning the attacks were insufficient and called for a more effective approach to ensure the safety of Nigerians.
