Abdul Maikaba Appointed Head Coach of Flying Eagles

Abdul Maikaba has been officially appointed as the head coach of Nigeria's U-20 football team, the Flying Eagles, by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). This decision was made by the NFF Executive Committee following recommendations from its Technical Development Committee, replacing Aliyu Zubairu immediately.

Maikaba, who previously served as the head coach of Nigeria's U-17 team and as an assistant coach for the Flying Eagles under Paul Aigbogun, expressed his honor and privilege in taking on this significant role. He emphasized the responsibility of leading the team and his commitment to nurturing Nigeria's young talent and creating a winning culture.

Maikaba's first major assignment will be to prepare the team for the WAFU B U-20 Championship, scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast in July. This tournament is crucial as it serves as a qualifying pathway for the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and potentially the FIFA U-20 World Cup.

He has already invited a 35-man provisional squad for tactical and physical preparations ahead of the tournament.
