Makinde Appoints Acting Members to Oyo Electricity Board

On Friday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde announced the appointment of members to the acting Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission (OYERC). Prof.

Dahud Kehind Shangodoyin was appointed as the acting chairman, with Mr. Ayanniyi Taiwo as acting secretary, Solomon Oyekunle as acting technical member, Abiodun Adedoja as acting strategic member, and Mr.

Omolara Omoremi as acting legal member. This initiative is part of the implementation of the Electricity Act 2023 and aims to empower the OYERC to regulate the intrastate electricity market in Nigeria's evolving dual-tier regulatory framework.

The commission will focus on licensing generation, distribution, and embedded generation projects, as well as tariff regulation and consumer protection. The governor emphasized that these appointments are significant for operationalizing the commission and will enhance the regulatory framework, compliance mechanisms, and service standards in Oyo State's electricity sector, ultimately aiming to attract private sector investment and improve service delivery.
