Seyi Makinde Named APM Presidential Candidate for 2027

Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, has been nominated as the presidential candidate for the All Peoples Movement (APM) for the upcoming 2027 general elections. His acceptance speech followed the party's presidential primary held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.

Makinde expressed a deep sense of humility and responsibility in accepting the nomination, emphasizing the need to restore hope and rebuild confidence in the country. He stated that he possesses the capacity to reform the economy through honesty and discipline, specifically mentioning the oil and gas sector as a critical area for reform to ensure that Nigerians benefit from the nation's natural resources.

Additionally, he identified agriculture as a key area for economic growth, stressing the importance of improving production processes and storage logistics. The event saw support from notable figures, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who endorsed Makinde's candidacy, describing him as a capable leader who can move Nigeria forward.

Yusuf Dantal, the APM national chairman, also characterized the primary as peaceful and transparent.
