Veteran Journalist Lekan Alabi Passes Away at 76

Lekan Alabi, a veteran journalist and the Abese of Ibadanland, died at the age of 76 in Lagos on Saturday morning. His death was confirmed in a statement by Adeola Oloko, Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

Alabi, who served as Press Secretary to several Oyo State governors, was highly regarded for his contributions to journalism, public service, and the promotion of Yoruba culture. He will be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expressed that Alabi's passing is a monumental loss to both Oyo State and Nigeria, highlighting his wisdom, integrity, and dedication to public service. Makinde noted that Alabi's influence extended beyond journalism into community leadership and cultural advocacy.

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also mourned Alabi, recognizing him as a towering personality whose career reflected excellence and commitment to Ibadanland's progress.
