Makinde Visits Rescued Oyo School Children, Hails Army

On Saturday, Governor Seyi Makinde visited the rescued school children and teachers in the Ahoru Esiel area of Oyo State, expressing relief at their safe return. During his visit, he commended the Nigerian Army for their significant role in the rescue operation, which involved medical personnel from the army.

Makinde interacted with the children and teachers, assuring them of continued medical and psychological support. He emphasized the psychological impact of captivity on the victims and acknowledged the need for medical attention to address post-traumatic issues.

The governor also expressed condolences to the families of security personnel who lost their lives during the operation, assuring that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. He mentioned plans for the formal handover of the victims to the state government, expected to occur on Monday, and logistics were being arranged to allow family members to visit the victims, particularly a young girl who repeatedly asked for her mother.
