Oyo Governor Makinde Celebrates Release of Abducted Victims

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde described the release of abducted pupils and teachers as a significant relief for the state, which had been waiting for over 57 days. Speaking on television, he commended security agencies for their achievement and noted that President Bola Tinubu also deserved commendation for the efforts.

The governor expressed gratitude for the victims regaining their freedom after a week in captivity. In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelad, Makinde highlighted the importance of resilience and principled leadership in overcoming such challenges.

He reiterated the administration's commitment to resist ransom payments, stating that yielding to ransom demands encourages criminal activity. Makinde's administration aims to confront insecurity with sustainable measures rather than temporary solutions, emphasizing the need to protect the lives and properties of residents in Oyo State.
