Makinde's 2027 Presidential Bid Faces Community Rejection

Seyi Makinde's aspiration for the Nigerian presidency in 2027 has encountered a significant setback following the rejection of an alleged endorsement by traditional and community leaders in Ibadan. A video surfaced online showing individuals claiming to represent the Mogajis and local stakeholders supporting Makinde, the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), alongside Bimbo Adekanmbi for the governorship.

However, the recognized leadership of Ibadanland, including the Association of Mogajis and the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative, disowned the endorsement, stating that the individuals behind the video lacked the authority to speak on behalf of the community. Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and Mogaji Dr Nurudeen Akinade emphasized that their organizations were not consulted prior to the declaration and urged the public to disregard the video.

Makinde, who secured the APM's presidential ticket in May, plans to run with Lawal Musa Daura as his running mate, focusing on governance, economic development, security, and public services.
