Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Girlfriend Over HIV Dispute

Okpara Emmanuel, a 30-year-old man, has been arrested by the police for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Chinyere, in the Olympic Layout area. The Public Relations Officer of the police command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, reported that neighbors discovered a foul odor emanating from Emmanuel's apartment, prompting them to investigate.

Upon entering, they found Chinyere's decomposing body concealed in a nylon bag inside the toilet. Emmanuel allegedly killed her on September 19, 2026, during a quarrel regarding who had infected whom with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).

He reportedly struck her on the head with a pestle, leading to her death. After the discovery, neighbors detained Emmanuel until police arrived, although he had to be rescued from an angry mob.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, has ordered a thorough investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department, and Emmanuel will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
