Man arrested for father's death in Adamawa; body found in well

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old resident of Sangere in Gombi Local Government Area on suspicion of murdering his father and disposing of the body in a disused well. The suspect, identified as Peter Sinamai, was taken into custody following a tip-off received by police operatives from a community member, according to authorities.

Police spokesman SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the arrest on Friday during a press parade held in Yola, the state capital. Nguroje explained that the initial phase of investigations confirmed the suspect's alleged involvement in both the killing and the concealment of his father's remains.

The Adamawa Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, has directed that the inquiry continue with greater scrutiny. The recovered body has been transported for post-mortem examination to establish the precise cause of death, according to the Daily Trust report.

This development marks another case of violent crime within a family setting recorded in northern Nigeria this year. The police have not yet disclosed a suspected motive for the alleged act.
