Man Charged with Car Theft and Police Obstruction in Ekiti

Lepe Ajibad has been charged with car theft and obstruction of police duties by the Ekiti State Police Command. The charges were presented in the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti on March 3, 2026, by prosecutor ASP Akinwal Oriyomi.

The allegations include obstructing ASP Jeged Raphael and his team while they were performing their official duties. Ajibad is also accused of presenting a suspicious affidavit to change the ownership of a Lexus 350 vehicle, registered as ASB 883 AJ, with chassis number JTHCE5C21B5001008, which is suspected to be stolen.

The prosecutor noted that the alleged offenses are punishable under sections 187(f), 345, 373(e), and 376 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law of 2021. Defense counsel Barrister T.E.

Omotosho requested bail for Ajibad, assuring the court that he would not jump bail. However, the prosecutor opposed the application, citing flight risk.

Chief Magistrate Mr. Abayomi Adeosun granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties, one of whom must be a civil servant of grade level 10, and required two years of tax clearance certificates.

The case has been adjourned until March 19, 2026.
