Man City Signs Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez for £125 Million

Manchester City has reached an agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez for £125 million ($167 million), which would equal the British transfer record. The deal is expected to be finalized on deadline day.

City has pursued Fernandez for several months, and the Argentina international is set to join the team at the Etihad Stadium. Enzo Maresca, who previously worked with Fernandez at Chelsea, is now the head coach at City and is eager to secure the midfielder following the recent sale of Rodri to Barcelona and the departures of Bernardo Silva, Nico Gonzalez, and Tijjani Reijnders.

Fernandez, 25, will join England's Elliot Anderson and Morocco's Ayyoub Bouaddi in City's revamped midfield. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso excluded Fernandez from the squad for the last two matches amid transfer speculation.

Fernandez previously signed with Chelsea from Benfica for £106 million in 2023 and has faced criticism for expressing interest in joining Real Madrid.
