Bandits Attack Travelers in Zamfara, Many Feared Abducted

On Friday, a bandit attack in Zamfara caused widespread panic among travelers as the assailants took control of the road near the mountainous area of Tsafe. A commuter who escaped reported that the bandits blocked the road and abducted passengers from a Sharon Toyota vehicle and a petroleum tanker.

Sporadic gunfire erupted during the incident, lasting for a considerable time. Two residents of Tsafe confirmed the attack but could not identify the number or identities of those abducted.

After security personnel cleared the road, another commuter observed an abandoned Sharon vehicle and a petroleum tanker with their doors open, suggesting possible abduction or escape of the occupants. Additionally, a yellow-painted bus was found overturned, possibly due to panic or bandit activity.

While stranded commuters praised the security forces for their efforts, attempts to reach DSP Yazid Abubakar of the Zamfara State Police Command and Alhaji Shu’aibu Lili of the PTD for confirmation were unsuccessful.
