Soldier, Policeman Killed in Zamfara Bandit Attack

In the early hours of the morning on an unspecified date, bandits attacked a community in Zamfara, resulting in the deaths of one soldier and one police officer. The assault occurred around 1:40 am, with attackers firing indiscriminately and searching for specific individuals.

Despite efforts from soldiers, police operatives, and local vigilantes, the attackers overwhelmed security personnel. Inuwa Giranto, a resident, described the chaos, stating that more than 70 people were abducted, although this figure has not been confirmed by security authorities.

Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division Nigerian Army, reported that troops at the Forward Operating Base in Kasuwar Daji repelled the attack and engaged the bandits, leading to their retreat with heavy casualties.

Reinforcements were deployed, resulting in the rescue of nine abducted civilians. The Army dismissed social media claims of six security personnel being killed, affirming only the two confirmed fatalities.
