Pit Collapse in Kano Leaves Many Feared Dead

A tragic incident occurred early Wednesday in Ridawa Village, Ghari Local Government Area, Kano State, where an unspecified number of brick workers were reportedly trapped after a pit collapsed. The victims were engaged in digging earth for brick-making when the pit suddenly caved in, leading to fears that several workers were trapped underground.

Reports indicate that local emergency response efforts commenced, but rescuers faced challenges in reaching those buried beneath the rubble. As of the time of reporting, victims had not yet been rescued, raising concerns about their chances of survival.

Sani Bala, the representative of the Ghari Tsanyawa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, confirmed the incident and stated that approximately ten people are believed to be trapped underground. He called for urgent government intervention to rescue the victims and prevent further loss of life.

However, Saminu Abdullahi, the public relations officer of the Kano State Fire Service, indicated that they had not received any reports regarding the incident.
