Northern Youth Council Demands Action on Habila's Death

The Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), led by President Isah Abubakar, has given a seven-day ultimatum to Minister of Works Dave Umahi to step aside following the suspicious death of 26-year-old physiotherapist Mary Habila. The council demands that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspend Umahi to allow for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Habila's death.

The NYCN has expressed deep concern over the incident, which reportedly occurred at Umahi's private residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State. They are calling for the Nigeria Police Force to invite Umahi for questioning, arguing that his position may influence the investigation.

The council insists on a transparent autopsy to determine the cause of death and whether foul play was involved. If their demands are not met, the NYCN plans to mobilize members and civil society organizations for nationwide protests in locations including Abuja, Kaduna, and Ebonyi State.
