APC Primaries in Akwa Ibom: Mark Essent Secures Nomination

The All Progressives Congress (APC) held its House of Representatives primaries in Akwa Ibom, specifically at St. Michael's Primary School, Offot 1 Ward 6.

The event saw a significant turnout, with 5,615 votes cast from a total of 6,000 registered members. Mark Essent, the incumbent House of Representatives member, was confirmed as the party's candidate.

Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, praised the party's adoption of direct primaries, which he believes enhances democracy and provides opportunities for members, especially women, to support their preferred candidates. The primaries were conducted peacefully, with all participants adhering to orderly procedures.

In attendance were notable figures such as Inibeh Emmanuel, chairman of Ward 6, and Sir Charl Udoh, managing director of Ibom Hotel. The event concluded with Mr.

Jude Oliv announcing the results, confirming Mark Essent's candidacy for the national assembly.
