Ama Obasogie Suspended for Three Months Over Match-Fixing

Ama Obasogie, the goalkeeper for Singida Black Star, has been suspended for three months due to allegations of match-fixing, as announced by the club's disciplinary committee on Friday. This suspension is part of an ongoing investigation into the allegations, although no formal charges or detailed evidence have been made public by the Tanzanian Football Authority.

The suspension follows a significant error made by Obasogie during a match against Namungo FC in the Tanzanian league, where he allowed a late equalizing goal after spilling a routine catch from a free kick. Additionally, Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho has also been suspended for three months for indiscipline and absenteeism.

Obasogie joined Singida Black Star in 2025 from Ethiopian club Fasil Kenema and has been a regular presence in the Super Eagles camp, contributing to Nigeria's squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria won bronze. He is noted as the third-choice goalkeeper behind Stanley Nwabali and Francis Uzoho.
