Nigeria Removes Mathematics Requirement for Arts Courses in Tertiary Institutions

The Federal Government of Nigeria has eliminated Mathematics as a mandatory subject for students applying to arts-related courses in tertiary institutions. The new policy, announced by the Federal Ministry of Education, requires art and humanities applicants to have five credits, including English Language but not necessarily Mathematics.

The move is intended to enhance academic quality and standards by removing unnecessary barriers. The statement signed by the ministry's spokesperson, Folashad Boriowo, outlines specific subject requirements for different categories of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
