Nigerian Government Clarifies: Mathematics Remains Compulsory for O’Level Students

The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Education clarified that Mathematics remains compulsory for O’Level students, contrary to previous announcements. The reform is designed to ensure capable students are not denied admission opportunities due to deficiencies in non-core subjects.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa explained that the reform does not exempt candidates from core subjects but affects admission criteria.

The Ministry urged stakeholders to rely on official communication channels for policy verification and cautioned against misinformation.
