Pochettino Close to Extending USMNT Contract to 2030

Mauricio Pochettino, the current coach of the US men's national soccer team (USMNT), is nearing an agreement to extend his contract with the US Soccer Federation (USSF) until 2030. His existing contract was set to expire in 2026, coinciding with the next World Cup to be hosted in the United States.

Despite the team’s exit in the round of 16 after a 4-1 defeat to Belgium, Pochettino's leadership was recognized for achieving historic milestones, including being group stage toppers and securing the first knockout win since 2002. Although negotiations had stalled following the team's exit, US Soccer CEO JT Batson confirmed that discussions are "active" regarding Pochettino's vision for the next generation of American soccer players.

Pochettino has also been linked to various Premier League positions, raising questions about his long-term commitment, yet the USSF appears determined to support him following an overall impressive World Cup journey.
