MAUTH Celebrates Successful Separation of Conjoined Twins

Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH) in Yola celebrated a significant medical breakthrough with the successful surgical separation of conjoined twins, who were discharged healthy after five months of care. The discharge ceremony, attended by medical professionals, government officials, traditional leaders, and family members, highlighted the triumph of science and teamwork.

Dr. Ali Danburam, the chairman of the occasion and former medical director of MAUTH, noted that the separation represented a delicate frontier in pediatric surgery, requiring extraordinary coordination from a highly trained multidisciplinary team.

Professor Auwal Muhammad Abubakar, the lead surgeon and immediate past chief medical director, praised the expertise of anesthetists, nurses, and technicians who made the complex procedure possible. The twins had been admitted without financial burden, as MAUTH covered all medical expenses.

Professor Adamu Bakari Girei, the current chief medical director, emphasized the hospital's vision to provide comprehensive specialist care locally, affirming the importance of teamwork and the strong foundation laid by past administrations.
