MBF Calls for Investigation into El-Rufai's Tenure

The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has demanded an independent and credible investigation into allegations of payments to bandits or armed groups during the administration of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai. This call follows Gen. Martin Agwai's denial of claims that El-Rufai's committee recommended compensating the killers of Southern Kaduna residents.

During a briefing in Kaduna on Tuesday, MBF National Spokesman Luka Binniyat urged a review of unresolved mass killings in Southern Kaduna, including the kidnapping and murder of Agwom Adara and Dr. Raphael Maiwada Galadima in October 2018. The forum also seeks investigations into deaths and injuries linked to demolition exercises under El-Rufai's administration, citing incidents where individuals reportedly died due to demolition notices.

The MBF criticized the government's approach to urban renewal, asserting that development should also consider the protection of lives and dignity.
