Victoria Mboko Withdraws from Canadian Open Due to Injury

Victoria Mboko, the reigning women's singles champion and currently ranked world number 10, has officially withdrawn from the Canadian Open due to a knee injury. The 19-year-old Canadian confirmed her withdrawal on Wednesday, stating that she sustained the injury during a match against Karolina Pliskova at the Queen's Club Championship in June.

A scan revealed a medial collateral ligament injury, which has forced Mboko to withdraw from the remainder of the grass court season, including Wimbledon. She expressed deep disappointment over not being able to compete in front of her home crowd in Toronto, where the Canadian Open is scheduled to run from August 2 to 13.

Mboko had also planned to participate in a U.S. Open tune-up event in Toronto, which she described as significant to her.
