MDCN Grants Accreditation to FUTA Medical Programs

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has granted accreditation for medical programs at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA). This decision was announced following an accreditation visit on Wednesday, where the MDCN team, led by Deputy Registrar Dr.

Nnameka Nwakanma, expressed satisfaction with the university's preparedness. Vice Chancellor Professor Adenik Oladiji highlighted the university's commitment to meeting the necessary standards for medical education.

The MDCN's approval allows FUTA to admit 100 medical students annually. Professor Olusegun Ojo, Chief Medical Director at FUTA Teaching Hospital, described the accreditation as a landmark achievement, emphasizing its significance for the development of medical education at the institution.

The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged the contributions of Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi and the Akure Kingdom in supporting the development of FUTA's medical programs, which include the establishment of modern teaching laboratories.
