Ondo Community Donates Hostel and Lab for FUTA Medical Training

The Ondo community has made a significant contribution to medical training by donating a 50-bed hostel and an ultra-modern laboratory to the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA). This initiative supports the establishment of a teaching hospital, which received federal government approval on December 16, 2024, with operations expected to begin on October 24, 2025.

Dr. Olufemi Oyinsan, the chairman of the Central Community Plan Committee for the FUTA teaching hospital, described this development as a milestone in establishing a fully functional teaching hospital.

He emphasized the importance of quality medical training and the need for strong healthcare systems. Notable figures, including elder statesman Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Sundai Abegund, played crucial roles in facilitating the approval of the teaching hospital.

The Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Prof. Adenik Oladiji, acknowledged the contributions of donors and stakeholders, highlighting that the new facilities will enhance the training environment for students.

The project aims to secure full accreditation for the medical program at FUTA.
