Meat Seller Allegedly Kills Wife in Ekiti Dispute

Sodiq Ibrahim, a meat seller, allegedly macheted his 25-year-old wife, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, to death during a marital disagreement in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Wednesday. The couple, originally from Kogi State, had been facing domestic challenges that escalated into violence.

Sources indicated that Kehinde had previously left Ibrahim due to irreconcilable differences but had recently been approached by him to resolve their issues, which she was uncomfortable with. The confrontation turned physical when Sodiq allegedly attacked Kehinde with a machete, resulting in severe injuries that led to her death.

Following the incident, Sodiq fled the scene, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Kehinde's body has been deposited in the mortuary.

Yussuf Lawrence, a cousin of the deceased, expressed the family's devastation and urged the police to intensify efforts to apprehend Ibrahim, who allegedly took Kehinde's mobile phone, believed to contain vital information for the investigation. The Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has ordered a thorough investigation.
