UNICEF and NBS Urge Enugu State to Own Data Collection

On Wednesday, UNICEF and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) visited Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to advocate for state ownership of data collection related to the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey Round 7 (MICS7) project. The visit included Adeyemi Adeniran, the Statistician General of the Federation, and Wayne Bacal, Chief of UNICEF Nigeria.

They emphasized the importance of accurate data collection, which is set to begin in November 2025 and conclude in March 2026. Governor Mbah expressed appreciation for the MICS7 project, highlighting the state's commitment to data-driven policies aimed at increasing GDP and reducing poverty.

Nathaniel Uruama, representing the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Planning, underscored the necessity of accurate data for resource allocation in the 2026 budget. The officials encouraged public participation in the data collection process to ensure comprehensive and beneficial outcomes for the citizens of Enugu State.
