Midnight Fire Destroys Plumbing Market in Onitsha

A fire broke out around 11:55 PM on Friday at the plumbing materials section of Head Bridge Market near Ogbo Ogwu Medicine Market in Onitsha, Anambra State. The blaze caused extensive damage to plumbing materials, with losses estimated in millions of naira.

Eyewitnesses reported that traders battled to control the fire until the State Fire Service arrived to help contain it. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but a power surge is suspected. Chinedu Ezekwik, the caretaker committee chairman of Head Bridge Market, confirmed the serious incident and expressed gratitude to the fire service personnel for their prompt response.

The fire burned for several minutes before being brought under control, and shop owners are now assessing the extent of the damage to their businesses.
