Military Takes Charge of Security in Bauchi's Alkaleri LGA

The Nigerian military has assumed control of security operations in Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State to address ongoing bandit attacks. This decision follows a series of violent incidents, prompting Governor Bala Mohammed to appeal for urgent federal intervention.

On a recent Tuesday, the governor met with Major General Eyitayo Foluso Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, at the governor's house. The GOC's visit was in compliance with directives from the Chief of Defence Staff, who has ordered direct supervision of military operations in Alkaleri LGA.

The military plans to deploy additional troops to restore peace and security in the affected communities. The GOC assured that a proactive and coordinated strategy would be implemented to eliminate criminal elements and prevent further attacks.

This includes both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches, enhancing surveillance, and collaborating with security agencies to dismantle criminal hideouts and disrupt armed group movements in the region.
