Military Blockade Halts Borno Insecurity Protest

A protest scheduled in Maiduguri, Borno State, against the rising insecurity and abductions was postponed due to the deployment of heavy military personnel by the Nigerian Army. Samaila Kaigama, president of the Borno South Youth Alliance, alleged that the military presence was orchestrated by the state government to intimidate peaceful demonstrators.

The protest was intended to draw attention to the worsening security situation, with 416 individuals reported abducted, including 12 from Biu. Kaigama stated that the protest would be rescheduled once concerns were addressed, emphasizing the need for the government to engage with the families of the abducted.
