Military Court Martial Established for Coup Plot Officers

The Nigerian military has constituted a court martial to prosecute officers allegedly implicated in a coup plot against the federal government. The military panel commenced proceedings on Wednesday against several detained officers, including Brig Gen M.

Sadiq, Col M. Maaji, and Lt Col S.

Bappah, among others. These officers face trial for their alleged roles in the unfolding coup case.

This development marks the first time these detained officers have been granted access to legal representation since their arrest. Concurrently, the federal government has set plans to arraign six individuals in the Federal High Court in Abuja, including retired Major Gen Moham Ibrahim Gana and retired Naval Captain Erasmu Ochegobia, among others.

They are accused of plotting against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The suspects are expected to appear before Justice Joyc Abdulmalik in the Federal High Court in Abuja.
