World Bank Allocates $6M for Women's Empowerment in Katsina

Glori Ohagwu, representing the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, announced a new World Bank fund of $6 million aimed at enhancing women's economic empowerment in Katsina State. This announcement was made during a visit to Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, who was commended for his commitment to the project.

The initiative is part of a broader Nigeria Women Project, which has already benefited 4.5 million women nationwide. The World Bank plans to front-load an additional $8 million to expand the program across 34 local government areas in Katsina.

Governor Radda reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the project, highlighting its role in rebuilding livelihoods, especially for families displaced by security challenges. The Katsina State Government has also committed 4 billion naira as counterpart funding.

The project aims to strengthen financial inclusion and self-reliance among women, with the first beneficiaries expected to access funds within three to four months.
