Nigeria and Rwanda Strengthen Bilateral Relations

On July 23, 2026, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, received His Excellency Moses Rugema, the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Nigeria, during a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Rwanda, particularly in trade, investment, regional security cooperation, and private sector participation.

Both officials reviewed the current state of Nigeria-Rwanda relations and discussed practical measures to advance cooperation. Ambassador Rugema conveyed Rwanda's commitment to strengthening their longstanding cordial relations and proposed the establishment of a Nigeria-Rwanda Business Forum to enhance private sector collaboration.

They identified priority sectors for cooperation, including trade, ICT, healthcare, agriculture, and security. Both sides acknowledged the complex security challenges in Africa and agreed on the importance of African-led solutions and defense cooperation to achieve lasting peace and stability.
