Osborn Umahi Wins Ohaozara LG Chairmanship Election

Osborn Umahi has been declared the chairman-elect of Ohaozara Local Government Area in Ebonyi State after the local government elections held on Saturday, August 22, 2026. The results were announced by Patrick Enyi, Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), at the commission's office in Abakaliki.

Enyi reported that the elections were peaceful, free, and fair, with significant voter turnout and support from security agencies. In his victory speech, Osborn Umahi commended EBSIEC for the transparent election process and pledged to focus on rural development and agricultural transformation in Ohaozara.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all chairmanship positions across Ebonyi State, with Stanley Okoro Emegha, the APC Chairman in the state, stating that the results demonstrate the party's growing acceptance among voters. Other elected chairmanship candidates include Peace Agwu in Ishielu and Paul Ituma in Ohaukwu, among others.

Governor Francis Nwifuru also praised the conduct of the elections.
