NFF Imposes N1m Fine for Federation Cup No-Shows

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has issued a warning to clubs regarding the upcoming preliminary stage of the 2026 Federation Cup, stating that any club that fails to honor its scheduled fixtures will face a fine of N1 million. Ruth David, the NFF Director of Competitions, outlined that the preliminary matches are set to take place from March 22 to April 26, 2026.

Clubs that do not complete their registration at the state level and fail to show up for their scheduled matches will be penalized with a fine of N500,000. This measure aims to ensure discipline and proper organization throughout the competition as teams seek to qualify for the national round of the tournament.

The final matches at the state level are expected to be played on either Saturday, April 25, or Sunday, April 26, with state football associations required to submit two representatives to progress to the national stage of the competition.
