NFF Fines Clubs ₦1 Million for Match Non-Honoring

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a ₦1 million fine for clubs that do not honor their matches in the upcoming Federation Cup, scheduled from March 22 to April 26, 2026. Ruth David, the NFF's Director of Competitions, confirmed this decision.

Clubs that fail to complete their registration at the state level will face sanctions. Additionally, the NFF's disciplinary committee has sanctioned Kwara United FC for failing to provide adequate security during a match against Rivers United FC on February 18, 2026.

The club was fined ₦2 million, which includes ₦1 million for the security breach and another ₦1 million for failing to control their supporters, who harassed match officials. Furthermore, Kwara United will face a three-point deduction and a five-match stadium ban, with the remainder of their home matches to be played at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.
