Governor Sule Endorses Wadada for APC Governorship Candidacy

Governor Abdullahi Sule has endorsed Senator Ahmadu Aliyu Wadada as the preferred governorship candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State for the upcoming 2027 elections. The Nasarawa State Chapter Association of Local Governments Nigeria (ALGON), led by Chairman Safiyanu Isa, expressed unanimous support for Sule's choice, highlighting Wadada's hard work and leadership qualities.

They noted that the endorsement followed extensive consultations with constituents. However, the Nasarawa State Transparency and Accountability Group (NSTAG), represented by Lazaru Salaki, criticized the endorsement process, arguing that it lacked democratic principles and did not involve proper consent from all stakeholders.

Salaki referenced Section 84 and 88 of the amended 2026 Electoral Act, asserting that consensus is only valid when aspirants voluntarily consent to withdraw their candidacy in writing. The contrasting views reflect ongoing tensions within the APC regarding the selection of candidates for the upcoming elections.
